As hard as it is for at-risk youth to get jobs, in most cases holding the job is an even bigger challenge. If you want youth to succeed in the world of work, don’t miss this workshop. Learn how to shift ineffective traditional post-employment job retention strategies to a much more successful pro-active approach that starts when the youth start your program. Most of the reasons youth will quit or get fired are with them when they start your program, but you aren’t addressing them early enough to keep them on the job. The radar model is a very powerful job loss early prevention approach that puts retention skill building into every part of your program starting with orientation. Learn how case management, employment counseling, job search skill building, vocational training and every other service you provide can function as a powerful antidote to quitting and firing problems. Discover how to make retention a key part of your employment plan. Get innovative ideas for follow up that will add to time on the job. Build on the strengths of your youth so they become as skilled at holding the job as they were at getting it. If you improve job retention, you will help your youth get on the self-sufficiency upward bound ladder of employment and career success! 

This training is designed for all the staff and management of every type of program working with at-risk youth up to the age of 24 who want to get better employment outcomes for the young people they serve.  The training will be presented by Larry Robbin, Executive Director of Robbin and Associates.  Larry has over forty-five years of experience in the youth employment, education and training fields.  He is widely regarded as a national expert on the topic of how to help at-risk youth become successful in the world of work.

REGISTRATION

FYA Members: Register up to 3 staff at $35 each, $65 for 4th staff and above

Non-FYA Members: $65 per registration

Registration fees are non-refundable.  Advanced registration strongly encouraged. At the door registration will be on a space available basis, and is expected to be very limited. 

Not a FYA Member?  If 3 or more staff from a non-FYA agency sign up for any of these trainings, your agency can join FYA at a one-time 15% discount in the annual dues.
